Remote Learning - EYFS

Dear Parents,

Included in this information is the weekly timetable of activities assigned to Reception. The expectation for KS1 children is the equivalent of 3 hours of work every day according to guidance from Department of Education. Please keep in mind that in school, pupils would be accessing continuous provision and therefore further child-initiated activities so if your child wants to follow their own interests and engage in additional activities, this is fine. If your child is struggling to complete this work in 3 hours then focus mainly on the morning activities involving Maths, English, Reading and Maths fluency.

Remote Learning including Live Meetings

  • The daily live meetings, using Microsoft Teams, will set your child up for the morning session when teachers will prepare the children for the learning ahead and clarify any details.
  • The daily meeting will start at 9am and last about 30 minutes. This will be recorded and up loaded into ‘chat’ on Teams, for those unable to access the meeting live. The video is only available to view on Teams as the security settings have been changed so that no one can directly download or share these recordings, other than the school host for school-based purposes only.
  • It would help if your child is ready a few minutes before the meeting starts so that they do not miss vital information and have the opportunity to ask any questions.
  • Please ensure your child is appropriately dressed when accessing these meetings. We politely request that only your child is visible on the screen and should this not be possible then adults and other children must be appropriately dressed.
  • It is important children do the best they can to access their learning every day as it follows our school curriculum.
  • Work should be submitted as soon as it is completed on the day set. The teachers will respond as soon as possible. Any submissions after 5pm will be responded to as soon as possible the following day.
  • Work will be assigned every day by 8.55am. This includes morning and afternoon work so that children sharing devices can still do tasks. If your child can access a device all the time then it is important they try to adhere to the timetable so the teacher can address any misconceptions and common mistakes during the afternoon meeting.
  • If your child is stuck on something then it is important they highlight this by circling using the highlighter tool or writing a comment in the comment box. This will allow the teacher to respond to it either, individually, as a whole class or during the afternoon meeting.
  • Your child’s engagement with each task is recorded and monitored so we can adapt support where necessary.
  • Our teachers will set tasks which include instructions and videos so some of what is set may allow them to access and complete tasks more independently  if they know how to pause the video,  as we are aware many of you are working from home. However, given their age, Reception pupils will probably need some support to help with their focus and attention and to chunk the different activities as you see fit over the course of the day.
  • Please be aware that the teacher managing the remote learning is receiving in excess of 150 notifications a day regarding all the work being posted and the teacher marking and responding to it. If a query is urgent and essential then please email the teacher.
