Class 4L 2019 - 2020

Mrs Irlam

Everyone in Class 4L are working hard and going the extra 2%

Thank you class 4L for a wonderful Roman Assembly.

Welcome to Class 4L

Roman Legionaries; how well you did on our recent trip to Roman Chester. We will all agree being a roman legionary 2000 years ago was not an easy life compared to today. We were all tired from marching with the centurion. We are very busy finding out about life in Roman Britain and investigating how water changes state. We were all really pleased and amazed at the science of ice cream making in the classroom tasted nice!  We will be investigating the effect of heat on solids, liquids and gases further as we deepen our learning into evaporation and condesation.

Super, super effort to everyone taking on extra learning at home by completing the homework tasks. We have a range of examples in class from shields to forts to power points on roman gods and Hadrians wall.

All of the class have been keen to get into learning and developing our focus on taking personal responsibilty. Now the children our all in year 4 and established members of key stage 2 they are growing up into independent young people able to play an active part in their own learning drive.

Did you Know, many Roman homes had a picture of a guard dog near the front door (usually made of mosaic pieces) The words 'CAVE CANEM' meant 'Beware of the dog' - to scare off burglars!  Does this sound familiar?

All children will have a reading book and reading record booklet.

All children should aim to and be encouraged to establish good reading habbits. Please aim to read as much as possible as this will build up your fluency and languge knowledge which helps across all lessons.

Ask an adult to listen to you read every week, ideally every night but atleast three times a week.

Remember to write your book title and the pages read in your record and bring it to school to collect your house points.

Along side your home reading book we will also be studying and reading other books and texts in class, to build a range of reading skills. If you finish your book make sure you tell Miss Irlam and then choose a new book.
