Class 4L 2020 - 2021

Miss Cameron

Welcome to Class 4L

Everyone in Year 4 is working really hard and going the extra 2%!

Your teacher this year is Miss Cameron.  If you would like to contact me you can do so via my email

The children have all settled into Year 4 and we are already enjoying an exciting learning journey together. Please follow our class journey and other important school news by following my Twitter page @lhpMissCameron3, if you haven't already.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for continuous support and wish your child a successful year!

Water Bottles

Children are welcome to bring in a water bottle for in class. This must be separate to their packed lunch drink container. All water bottles must be taken home and cleaned and replenished for the following day.

Snack – Play-time

Children are allowed to bring a healthy snack to school for play-time e.g. a piece of fruit.

Everyone has a reading book.

It is great to establish good reading habits. Please aim to read as much as possible as this will build up your fluency and languge knowledge which helps across all lessons.  Plus it is simply great fun!  Ask an adult to listen to you read every week, ideally every night but at least three times a week. Please ask an adult to sign your home work diary at least once a week. Please enjoy reading your books and share what happens in class.

We continue to focus on our times tables especially 6x, 7x, 8x and 9x.

Keep practising so that you can recall the answers at speed. Why not test yourself against the clock with mixed questions? Remember to take advantage of the mesmerising Maths Shed Challenge!  The more you complete, the more points you gain! We will be looking out for Maths Shed Champions every Friday.

Our PE days this half term will be Tuesday (indoor) and Thursday (outdoor).

Please ensure that your child comes to school wearing their full PE kit on those days.  Your child should have a pair of black pumps in school for indoor sessions. (these can be left in their cloakroom).

Daily Mile

Children can bring a pair of trainers into school to use when going on the daily mile. However, the trainers will be separate to their PE trainers and must be kept in a bag.

Our curriculum for each half term is shown below by clicking on the Year 4 Curriculum Map.

Due to the current situation and in reducing contact from home to school, whilst also protecting our class bubbles, homework will consist of Spellings to learn every Monday with a test on Friday.  Times tables are tested regularly throughout the week so please practise. Reading at home is a large part of Homework and rebuilding skills after Lockdown. Please aim to read at least 3 times per week for your chance to be entered into our weekly Reading Raffle - 1 ticket for every 3 reads  laugh

Don't forget to access your Maths and Spelling Shed accounts regularly to practise, you can also have a go at the Year 4 Multiplication Check (as many times as you wish) Let's improve our speedy tables!
